Mirtul 1

Mirtul 1, 1370:
    High = 30, Low = 15
    Trace precipitation (up to 1/8" rain or 1/2" snow) starting @ 7:40am
    Calm.
    Cloudy.

    The party arrives in Skullport in the wee hours of the surface
    morning and (with the exception of the captain) head for Delver's
    Folly.

    Almost as soon as they are out of sight of the ship, the party
    gets mugged.  The fight that ensues (against a mixed groups of
    humans, demi-humans and bugbears) is very chaotic and includes
    Henkles wandering off into a separate mugging of his own before
    rejoining the original fight.  In the end, all of the bugbears and
    many of the humans/demi-humans from the first group of attackers
    are slain, as is a halfling from the smaller group that went after
    Henkles.  Most of the rest escape except for Yanckiel
    Mountainsblood, who is captured and pressed into service as a
    guide and questioned about her friends.

    Meanwhile on the ship, a merchant approached Captain Maanamere to
    see if the Star Chaser was heading to Luskan and ask him about
    transporting some cargo (rare mushroom spices) to an importer
    there.  Maanamere agreed and a while later 5 large metal lined,
    lead sealed barrels were loaded into the hold.  Maanamere (and the
    mates) were given information about contacting the importer and a
    note to give him to exchange the barrels for 125gp on delivery.

    The party goes to Delver's Folly, where Brogan pays the 300gp
    balance on the spheres they were making for him and collects them.
    After that they get Yanckiel to take them to a pawn shop, where
    they sell the bugbear's weapons for 10gp.

    

    The party learns about a shop dealing in fine smoke powder weapons
    in Skullport - the Brigadier's Broadside.  They have Yanckiel lead
    them there and meet the Brigadier - a strange hippo-faced humanoid
    in an elaborate military uniform of unknown origin.  The party
    examines his wares and Henkles orders a custom weapon: a
    combination shortsword/starwheel (pistol) with a jet pommel and
    jet inlay and a custom trigger that will be activated by the Ring
    of Shocking Grasp.  They agree on a price of 5500gp, of which
    Henkles pays 3000gp in advance (3 rubies).  The finished product
    should be ready in 6 rides.

    After that, the party went to Skullport's primary weapon maker,
    Thaglar's Foundry.  Henkles purchased a short sword that could
    shoot a spike out of its pommel for 48gp and commissioned two
    orcish war darts for 16gp to be ready in 6 rides.

    

    On their way to Mhaug's (zombie shop near harbor), the party is
    accosted by The Black Dice Gang, whos leader, a cambion known as
    Dark, apparently has some proprietary feelings towards Yanckiel.
    On seeing him she turns to Henkles and says "I love you so much
    right now."  Then turns to Dark and tells him to go to hell and
    that her new boyfriend (hugs Henkles) will protect her.  Dark
    behaves predictably and much violence happens.

    (Note that Kaeene escaped but left her Bolas with Henkles.)

        Tristan for The Black Dice Gang (Part I?)

    The party met with Mhaug, the huge blue hag who runs the local
    zombie shop.  Her wares start at 50gp for a simple human zombie.
    She also buys corpses, paying as much as 100gp for a good ettin
    corpse.  The party hold on to their corpses for now and go back to
    the ship.  Once there they question the prisoners, who don't have
    much of note to say, and bind them a little.


    

    Present are Ag, Henkles, Denyae, Staric, Dexter, Steve, Darius,
    Tristan, Brogan.

    Some discussion of division of the loot from the day took place:
      Henkles buys the +3 bola (from Kaeene Thadrin of the Black
          Dice Gang) from the party for 10000gp
      Tristan buys the +2 shield (from Aleesre Melaenal of the Furlong
          Street Thugs) for 6500gp and sells his +1 shield back for
          2500gp
      Staric buys the Cloak of Elvenkind (from Aernar Ramakadon of the
          Furlong Street Thugs) for 8000gp after a fierce bidding war
          with Henkles and Tristan
      Staric buys the +3 Rapier (fromtheir prisoner, Turmur of Mithril
          Hall of the Black Dice Gang) for 8000gp, which is less than
          the 10,000gp list price, possibly due to a misquote of the
          price from the GM
      Henkles buys the +1 Harpoon (from Aelalni Rileirnar of the The
          Furlong Street Thugs) for 2500gp

    Henkles get the prisoners to lead the party to the Skullport
    Island Registry, then they release them, minus their magic items
    and cash.  Henkles inquires about ships for sale, but there are
    none currently for sale.  He is advised to go to The Mizzen Mast,
    a shipbuilder in the Lower Trades ward, but no longer having
    native gudes, the party elects to return to the ship.

    On the way back, Ag noticed two people following the party.  Both
    were in dark robes with hoods covering their faces but one was
    distinctive in that he was 7½ feet tall and carrying a
    massive axe.  The party ducked into a rat-filled alley to ambush
    the two.  Dexter used Speak With Animals to try to keep the
    rats (many of them giant) calm, but they insisted that it was
    their alley and the party owed them 3sp for using it.  Dexter
    convinced them to settle for the corpses of anyone who died in the
    fight.  Unfortunately the two strangers took a shortcut into the
    alley around the other side of a building, coming in behind the
    party.  While Henkles was throwing a rat at them and getting them
    to duck back around the corner, Ag circled the building and snuck
    up behind them.

    Ag tried to get them to surrender, but the smaller stranger turned
    toward Ag and hit him with some mental attack, which Ag resisted.
    Ag yelled for help and stabbed him.  Henkles leapt over the taller
    one to help with the smaller while Tristan engaged the big one,
    Brogan Enlarged Tristan and Dexter cast Prayer.
    While Henkles was hurtling towards the smaller stranger, the
    stranger Charmed Ag, who made a hasty evaluation of his
    odds of protecting his new friend from Henkles and ran back to the
    Star Chaser.  Henkles resisted a Mind Blast from the shorter
    stranger and managed to kill him while Tristan hurt the taller
    one.  Henkles then turned his attention to Tristan's opponent and
    they finished it quickly.
      9500xp to Ag, Henkles, Denyae, Staric, Dexter, Steve, Darius,
        Tristan and Brogan for a brief scuffle in an alley

    Unsurprisingly, the smaller stranger was revealed to be a mind
    flayer.  The larger of the two was a minotaur whose horns had been
    cut off, apparently to allow him to wear a hood.  At the stub of
    each of his horns, a 1 inch glass globe was attached.  The rats
    claimed the bodies and all of their stuff at this point,
    but Henkles got insistent about the loot and they decided not to
    press the issue.  The mind flayer had a non-magical dagger with
    something on the blade, 4 vials of liquid (3 magical), 3 scrolls,
    38gp, 23pp, and 3mp.  The minotaur had a big axe, 17gp, 23sp, and
    7cp.  The party gives 3sp and the bodies to the rats and returns
    to the ship.

    After some more discussion, they decide to sell the bodies they
    collected earlier to Mhaug for 10gp.  They don't mention what they
    know about Dark's half-demon nature.

    Roughly 24 hours after they arrived, the party pays their 50gp fee
    and departs from Skullport.
