AFAL patrols the Everlund cemetary. Three ghouls bearing strangely
enchanted windchimes attempt to rob a grave at dusk. Some magical
force seems to put everyone to sleep, but Dexters elven blood
allows him to resist the effect and several others manage to keep
each other awake (to a large extent due to Steve's efforts) long
enough to defeat the ghouls. Barnabus destroys the ghouls and
Dexter grabs the windchimes before the party sets out after
Dexter's hunting dog to trace the ghouls back to their source.
The dog leads them back to a ladder going over the wall into an
alley off of Mystic Avenue, the portion of the mercentile section
of the city devoted to the sale of things magical. The dog gets
very excited about a bulkhead in the alley which leads into the
basement of Arpadelpo, a competitor of Rabairnil whom the later has
warned AFAL about. The party attempts to break in, but only
manages to take heavy damage from magical traps before Arpadelpo
shows up and convinces the party (or at least Sgt. Colon, who is
technically in charge) that there is nothing in the basement to
interest their dog. The dog regains the scent and heads down the
alley.
The dog leads the party on a lengthy chase up and down Mystic
Avenue, eventually convincing them that ghouls have walked along
every square foot of it and any nearby alley and gone through every
door and bulkhead. They give up and go home. After getting home,
Dexter and Steve decide to pack the windchimes more securely.
While doing so they discover what appears to be a makers mark on
the knocker. They recognize it as the Mage Sigil of their friend
Rabairnil.
In the mean time Buffy joins the party - 50XP to everyone who was
there to roleplay it. (Not Suzanne, or Jonathan...)
Later, Darius examines the symbols and runes on the windchimes more
closely and confirms that Rabairnil's sigil is almost certainly a
makers mark. He also dicovers a second makers mark, which noone in
the party recognizes. Darius believes that the item was the result
of a joint effort between Rabairnil and a second, unidentified,
spellcaster.
