Tarsakh 3

Tarsakh 3, 1370: (nearly full moon)
    High = 50, Low = 30
    Heavy precipitation (2" snow, 1" sleet) starting @ 2:40am
    Calm.
    Cloudy.
    

    The party embarks on a trip to Undermountan to deal with the
    Curst.  Present are Ag, Steve, Denyae, Maanamere, Tristan,
    Henkles, Brogan, Dexter, Darius. (-11 gp from party).  They bring
    lots of firewood.

    Strength spells cast:
        Dexter 18/60 for 6 hours
        Henkles 18/00 for 5 hours
        Maanamere 18/91 for 5 hours
        Brogan 18/10 for 6 hours

    In the wide corridor full of statues, the party encountered five
    trolls, one of them with a fin or crest on its head and a city
    watch breastplate.  Henkles Denyae and Tristan started with that
    one, Ag backstabbed another, then the party eliminated the rest.
    Roasting began.
      7800xp to Ag, Steve, Denyae, Maanamere, Tristan, Henkles, Brogan,
        Dexter, and Darius for 5 trolls.

    Before they could finish roasting and searching the remains, some
    ghouls and ghasts showed up to see if the noise meant easy
    pickings.  They were disappointed.
      2350xp to Ag, Steve, Denyae, Maanamere, Tristan, Henkles, Brogan,
        Dexter, and Darius for ghouls and ghasts

    Returning to the trolls, someone spotted a moss agate sticking out
    of the side of one troll which proved to be the pomell of a
    jeweled dagger (nonmagic).

    The party proceded from there to the room with the round sofa and
    colored tiles (room 242 if you're keeping track).  Henkles didn't
    know which tiles to press to open the secret door because he
    wasn't posessed at that moment, so Ag worked it out and the party
    made a point of writing it down this time.

    On the way to the curst's hangout, the party found some giant
    centipedes that were crawling on the ceiling and had an annoying
    habit of falling onto passers by.  They cleaned up the problem.
      385xp to Ag, Steve, Denyae, Maanamere, Tristan, Henkles, Brogan,
        Dexter, and Darius for bugs

    AFAL found the curst in the expected place, busily hanging Dethun.
    They interrupted their fun and they attacked with chair legs
    (clubs) a sword and a spear.  Dethun became a pincushion before he
    had a chance to do anything.
      2624xp to Ag, Steve, Denyae, Maanamere, Tristan, Henkles, Brogan,
        Dexter, and Darius for killing the Curst again

    The party spent several remarkably monster-free hours (possibly
    due to the smoke) incinerating the Curst with the wood they
    brought and as many Log of Everburning, Gust of Wind
    and Dust Devil spells as they could muster.  Once the
    bodies were reduced to ash, they cast Remove Curse on the
    remains.  Their hopes for a permanent solution were dashed when
    they saw the dust start to slowly drift into six separate piles.
    They gathered the ash up into a sack and headed out of
    Undermountain.  Henkles pseculated that "Maybe we'll have to burn
    them more, and try a single remove curse on each pile."  

    They left Undermountain without incident, at a cost of 9gp

    When they returned to Fair Winds, Jan and Theo were making plans
    for a trip to Baldur's Gate.  They had been hired to escort a
    group of scholars to gather literature for the Bard's college.
    They chatted with Darius about the plans the rest of AFAL were
    making and Theo became concerned.  He left and returned a few
    hours later with a scroll† for the party to read.
