Donald J. McCarren,
Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. McCarren became President,
Chief Executive Officer, and Board member on August 24, 1998.
He has spent more than three decades in the health care industry.
|
| During this
time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility with several major
pharmaceutical companies; Warner Lambert, Merck, Pfizer, Abbott and Erbamont (now
owned by Pharmacia-Upjohn).
In addition, he founded a smart polymer drug
delivery company, Tacora, and served as President of Immunogen, a small molecule
drug discovery company targeting cancer.

| Most recently, he served as President and CEO
of the National Center for Genome Resources. Dr. McCarren has a broad range of
experience in both the international and domestic markets. |
Peter A. Schad,
Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Schad joined AlphaGene in
September of 1998 after working at the National Center for Genome Resources
where he was Vice President of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology.

|
Dr. Schad has
had a distinguished career in microbiology, genetics and bioinformatics.
Dr. Schad was a primary force in creating bioinformatics services for the
genomics research community served by NCGR. Prior to joining NCGR, Dr. Schad was
involved in molecular and genetic research at the Pathogenesis Corporation where
he was one of the discoverers of a correlation between Herpes Virus (HHV6) and
Multiple Sclerosis.

| Before Pathogenesis, Dr. Schad worked on Pulse Field
Electrophoresis, DNA purification and conjugation chemistries at Bio-Rad
Laboratories, pediatric vaccine development at Praxis Biologics and enteric
disease vaccine development at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.
Dr. Schad received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the
Oregon Health Sciences University, his M.S. in Microbiology from the Catholic
University of America, and his B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University. |
