Kythorn 9

Kythorn 9, 1369:
    High = 50, Low = 30 (K from EJM)
    Light precipitation (up to 1/2" rain or 1" snow) starting @ 3:40am
    Wind gusting to 10 mph from the prevailing direction.  Cloudy.

    7:18 - Kyle the Hawk comes into view leading several horses (1 badly
    wounded) and a pony.  There are bodies thrown over the pony and one
    horse.
    
    The bodies are Taren Valderthar and Muri Haroin, grandson of Turmo
    Haroin Commander of Citadel Adbar's Third Battalion, two members of
    the Sunrise Band, a group of adventurers who were travelling from
    Silverymoon to Everlund when they were ambushed by Hill Giants.
    The other members of their party had been either killed or
    captured.  Kyle found them and healed them as best he could, then
    brought them to the party to ask for help recovering the lost party
    members. 
    
    AFAL cured them as best they could.  While they were busy curing,
    Falco noticed that the ruins were missing!  They had vanished in the
    night and no trace that they ever existed remained.  The party
    decided that this was probably an effect of the full moon and not
    worth worrying about. They then packed up and set out with Kyle,
    Taren and Muri to find the giants trail.

    The party made it to Silvermane Pass that night, were they
    found signs of the giants trail.  They set up camp just east of the
    pass.  After camp was set up, Kyle announced that he was going to
    get some additional assistance.  He unstrung his bow and told
    everyone to stand down and not shoot at anything while he was away.
    He then left for about two hours.
    
    When he returned, Kyle announced that he had hired a band of
    mercenary archers to help against the giants.  Under further
    questioning from the party, he admitted that the archers in question
    were orcs from the nearby village of Qual'Tosh.  This met with some
    grumbling but was eventually accepted.
    
    19:13 - A horde of kobolds attacked the party.  Darius summoned a
    fire elemental in their midst (unintentionally, but whose
    complaining?) but otherwise the fight was unsurprising.  409cp,
