The party heads back into the woods to make sure they got all of
the trolls. The find that the trolls remains have been tampered
with. The conduct a careful search of the area and find a hollow
tree with a very small, crude oak statue of a hooded man raising a
scimitar standing in the hollow (40gp). Further searching
uncovers 2 1000gp Opals wrapped in some cloth. Dexter determines
that it was more trolls that disturbed the remains and identifies
the trail that they came and went by.
Tristan and Ag are made invisible and cast Silence, 15'
Radius on a stone, then head off to follow the trail while the
rest of the party stays behind. They spot a clearing with some
trolls in it. In the mean time, the invisible gargoyle also finds
the clearing from above.
In the clearing are a firepit (not lit) with an iron cauldron over
it, a wooden chest, some dead deer, and five trolls with javelins
looking at Ag (who had been apart from Tristan and failed his Move
Silently.
Ag cast Fireball while Tristan threw the stone into the
clearing and then cast Scinitilating Sphere this damaged
the gargoyle, who had landed to investigate the chest, the chest,
which was something of an art object itself, and the trolls. It
also made Tristan and Ag visible.
The trolls gave chase and caught up to Tristan, damaging him a lot
while he cast Slow before his invisibility resumed and he
slipped away. He tried to use the wand that had been identified
as a Wand of Healing, but discovered that it was actually a Wand
of Negation and became visible again. Ag used a chardalyn with
Snilloc's Snowball Swarm cast in it to distract the trolls
from throwing javalins at Tristan, which got them chasing Ag. Ag
managed to dodge through them and the rest of the party finally
reached them. Then the trolls died.
10,000xp to Ag, Brogan, Darius, Denyae, Dexter, Henkles,
Maanamere, Steve and Tristan for 5 crested trolls

The chest had been to damaged to use, but the cauldron, the
battered gold ladle with a vine pattern carved into the grip area
in the cauldron (50gp), the contents of the chest and the
medium-sized brass sculpture that hadn't been noticed behind the
chest were all ok. The sculpture depicted a scene from a
well-known comedy written several hundred years ago where there is
a case of mistaken identity involving a crazy pirate and a
bouquet. (1000gp) In the chest were a small platinum sculpture of
a duck in very poor condition (500gp), 2 Conch shells (10gp ea.),
4 Opal Cowrie shells, (100gp ea.), 3 Horned Helmets (shells, 50gp
ea.), and 11,964sp. The party cleaned out the cauldron and
carried everything back to town in the cauldron on the throw rug.
In town the floating rug attracts attention and Ag blows a Pick
Pocket attempt in the crowd. The watch are summoned, but they
decide that they really don't want to deal with the party and let
them move along.
The watcher from the warehouse doorway is there again that night.
