Mirtul 17

Mirtul 17, 1370:
    High = 35, Low = 15 (I from EKO)
    Light precipitation (up to 1/2" rain or 1" snow) starting @ 9:20am
    Wind gusting to 40 mph from the north.
    Cloudy.

    Much healing was done, although not enough to completely heal
    everyone.

    Dexter created 29 Goodberries.

    At lunch, the zombies had their usual fish heads but Tristan
    ordered food for the living crew.  During lunch Amren Winterbrand
    and Denga RivenShade came by to see if the party was available yet
    to hire as guards for a work crew in the dungeon.  They had hired
    most of a crew and an engineer who was willing to take on the
    project.  The party negotiated a rate of 250gp/day to act as their
    escorts, starting in three or four days.

    Around 3:00, a gentleman who introduced himself as Maask Rhaunkos
    came to the ship to speak with AFAL.  He had heard that they were
    adventurers and that they had recently dealt with the local troll
    problem and was hoping to hire them for a short dungeon
    exploration down the coast.  He explained that he had acquired a
    lizard man statue that was part of a set of two.  Apparently the
    person he bought it from had originally purchased it from a band
    of adventurers.  The adventurers had looted it from a temple in an
    abandoned lizard man village about 40 miles down the coast, but
    had left the matching one there, because they were too heavy to
    carry both.  Maask feels the matched set will be considerably more
    valuable than one statue alone, so he wanted to hire AFAL to
    retrieve the second statue.  He has a small ship - The Prawn
    Shredder - that can take them there and will pay the party 250gp
    to retrieve it for him.

    Ag, Steve, Dexter, Maanamere and Tristan go to see the statue on
    the Prawn Shredder, a small cargo ship, with a stylized squid for
    a figurehead.  The statue is about 3.5' high and made of
    gold-plated metal, very heavy.  The party agrees to do the job the
    19th.

    In the mean time, Darius has been casting Identify as an
    8th level caster:
      - The greenhag's ring is low-strength protection.
      - The ring is also medium protection from fire.
        (The ring is given to Brogan to use as a party item for the
        time being.)
      - Nothing else to learn about the ring.
      - The metal hex rod from the wizard's lab under the Fallen Tower
        is a non-charged activator of some magical device.
      - The hex rod controls destination in some way.
      - Failed to learn more about the hex rod.
      - The potion from the Greenhag is Flying (Steve will carry).
      - The Scarf of Warmth was knitted by Blundegon Fertugntaughter
        and enchanted by Bludgor of Berronar in Year of Silver
        Wine. It's made from a mix of roth, cashmir, and yeti. There's
        nothing more to learn about it.

    Some general restocking of equipment takes place.

    Steve summons a gargoyle for early watch, taking 1hp damage.  The
    gargoyle is made invisible.  Steve takes 1hp damage (after the
    effects of an Aid spell).

    Later that night Brogan summons a replacement gargoyle and both
    Invisibility and Blessed Watchfulness are cast on
    it.  Brogan takes 4hp damage.
