Radon Daarthar, the importer Maanamere was contracted to deliver
to, shows up about an hour later. He asks to go below to see
barrels, and the party confirms that he is not undead and is
Neutral Evil. Since they are reluctant to bring him below, where
they are keeping the differently living crewmembers out of sight,
the party begins bringing the barrels up on deck. Daarthar asks
questions about the smell, but the party manages to satisfy him.
The first 2 pass, and someone sends for dock hands. The barrels
are unloaded, Maanamere is paid 125gp and Daarthar goes on his
way.
The Star Chaser sails with the tide. They travel 72 miles, about
halfway to Fireshear.
Along the way, they encounter the Rusty Cutlass (75' Caravel), a
pirate ship which, as it turns out, the crew is well aquainted
with. The Cutlass joins them and the crewmembers from both ships
who have served together chat amiably. Maanamere is thrilled to
meet real pirates and invites the Captain, Dheald Stardancer, and
First Mate, Relmas Maria aboard for lunch on the deck.
During lunch they chat and the party learns:
* Dheald served on the Star chaser on it's maiden voyage in 1322
and worked his way up from sailor to 1st mate. When Captain
Andrin turned the Star Chaser over to Captain Dhereth, Dheald
left and acquired the Rusty Cutlass.
* Relmas also served many years on the Star Chaser, although he
left and served on many other ships before returning during
Captain Dhereth's time.
* Dhereth was Captain of the Star Chaser when the zombie curse
began. He had a magic Captain's hat which may have been
related to some of the strangeness on the Star Chaser,
although he had it well before the time of the zombie curse.
* There were many dwarven priests in Fireshear (Brogan
identified them as priests of Abbathor) looking for some crown
or something. They were offering a reward for information,
although Dheald wasn't sure they were the type who could be
trusted to pay instead of killing the informant.
It is unclear what Dheald and Relmas learned.
The two ships parted amicably, with the Rusty Cutlass continuing
South.
