Nightal 12

Nightal 12, 1369: (half moon, waning)

    Wind gusting to 16 mph from the prevailing direction.
    Cloudy.

    Jan, Steve, Dexter, Henkles, Darius, Stalker, Edison and Tesla
    (Ursula's hounds) go into Undermountain to see Xylianthaxarlin and
    sell him the Philter of Stammering and Stuttering.  They buy a
    bunch of stuff too, cleaning out his minor healing and
    regeneration potions and buying other things as well.  They take
    the dogs to the room with lightning bolts and recharge them.

    On the way back, they encountered four trolls carrying two large
    barrels of cider marked with a large "H".  During the
    course of the fight, Darius miscast a spell and began leaving
    monster shaped footprints wherever he went.  Stalker managed to do
    45 points of damage to a troll with a single backstab.  Both
    barrels were destroyed in the fight, but one of the trolls had a
    bag of orc heads, one of which had a 2gp silver earing.  The
    remains were properly cooked.

    When they get home, Dusty (remember Dusty?) is there to report on
    his findings re:the burglary.  They mostly duplicate what Henkles
    already knows, but include the name of the thief (Gorrsurs Erask)
    and the info that the Endurance is just popping up the coast and
    likely to return within a month.  Dusty and Stalker are sent to
    recon the warehouse, which they do.  In the mean time, everyone
    else helps Maanamere put up the rest of the posters.

    

    Dusty and Stalker learn that the warehouse is located between the
    tanner's, fishmonger's and butcher's guilds, which they observe
    effectively masks all scents.  They get a good look at the outside
    of the warehouse (above) and one quick glance inside when they try
    to trick their way in past the the two large and dangerous looking
    human men (sailors according to Dusty) who answered the door.  The
    warehouse was filled with boxes and crates and Dusty and Stalker
    noticed an open trap door to the basement through which smoke was
    eminating.  The smoke continued up through an openning in the
    upper floor and presumeably out one or more skylights.

    When they got back from putting up posters, the party found a note
    waiting for them from Saros Ramaduask asking them to drop by that
    evening for a chat.  Messages were exchanged asking if they could
    meet during daylight instead and replying that that didn't fit
    Staros's schedule.  The party then sent back that they were having
    a party in front of their house that evening and asked him to come
    by instead, then they hastilly arranged one.  Maanamere headed off
    to see his girlfriend again, who claimed she waited last night and
    he never showed.

    The lawn party went together a little too effectively once some
    local bardic students learned about the space heater's effect.
    They immediately insisted on being a band for the party.  Darius
    tried to convince them to stay quiet by sharing all his Scrump
    with them, but by the time Staros and his assistant arrived, they
    had a band and at least a dozen drunk college students in their
    yard.  Dexter tried detect alignment and undead and detected
    nothing from Staros and Neutral alignment from his servant,
    Jeeves, (and mild hints of undeath from Darius and the band) so
    Dexter invited them in while everyone else shut down the party.

    Jeeves set off the glyph on the door before Staros went through,
    but Staros explained it away, saying that Jeeves was a bit of a
    naughty boy in his youth, but had paid for his minor crimes and
    was working for Staros as part of his rehabilitation.  Then they
    started talking while Staros progressively charmed Dexter,
    Henkles, Jan, Steve, and finally Moogh with his gaze.  Darius
    ducked out and told Denyae to be too sick to come downstairs.
    Staros got every detail the party had concerning Arcturagana from
    the party, although he was dissapointed that Maanamere was out and
    Denyae was indisposed.  Staros thanked them for the info and gave
    the party a +1 dagger as a reward, plus a +1 sheaf arrow for
    Denyae with the promise of more if she comes and chats with him.
    He said he and his associates would continue to look into the
    matter and would do what little they could to protect the party.
    He also recommended they talk with  "Lin"
    Rineireirael, the proprietor of the Blue Dolphin Tavern in South
    Ward who had considerable experience in dealing with vampires and
    might be helpful.  He gave the party a sealed letter of
    introduction to give to Lin.  After that he left, hoping never to
    see Moogh again.

    Darius got Cassie talking to Denyae, who explained what had just
    happened to Cassie.  Cassie had two Charm Person, which she
    tried on Steve and Jan, but they both saved.  Cassie passed word
    on to Narthan.
