Nightal 19

    Wind gusting to 39 mph from the prevailing direction.
    Cloudy.

    At sunrise the next morning, Dexter and Stalker investigated the
    site of the previous night's disturbance.  They found signs of a
    fight in a small copse by the street at the edge of the property.
    The fight was between two or more booted humanoids, at least one
    of whom was wounded.  They noticed however that the blood shed in
    the fight had not melted the snow it had landed on even slightly,
    implying that it was already cold.  They collected a sample for
    Lin.

    While Dexter and Stalker were doing this, a message arrived at the
    house from Lin requesting the party's presence at the Blue
    Dolphin.  Henkles, Steve, Narthan and Dexter responded and
    reported the small vampire who had appeared at their window as
    well as the blood collected that morning.  Lin was encouraged by
    the news of the small vampire, as he had behaved like a standard
    vampire.  Lin informed them that his friends had managed to locate
    one of Arcturagana's lairs and asked them to meet two of his
    people near a sewer entrance later in the day to eliminate the
    lair.  The party agreed and headed home.

    While they were away, someone knocked on the front door and
    Gulkker answered.  He claimed that it was nothing, but was acting
    strange and the party detected that he had been charmed.  Cassie
    was able to dispell the charm, after which Gulkker explained that
    the dark haired, red eyed woman that Jan had encountered earlier
    had come to the door and explained very persuasively that he
    should signal her when the party was out.  After some discussion,
    the party had Mrap-M'rap take a description of the woman and their
    encounters with her, plus an admonition to keep booze away from
    Mrap-M'rap, to Lin asking for advice (about the woman, not
    Mrap-M'rap).

    While they waited for Mrap-M'rap's return, the party used Darius's
    Nap ability to regain spells.

    When Mrap-M'rap returned - swaying and smelling of beer - he
    commented to Darius that he "didn't really like [Lin] at first,
    but he warmed up to him after a while.  He had a note from Lin
    which started with "Sorry about your cat, I couldn't get your note
    from him until I gave him a drink."  Lin went on to comment that
    there were a few types of vampires that could move around in
    daylight, none of them any fun, but that he couldn't identify this
    woman or her type of vampirism from the description.

    At 2:00pm, the party rendezvoused with Mimon Iceblight and
    Rhaunnar of Helm, two associates of Lin's, outside of a sewer
    entrance in Sea Ward.  From there they all descended into the
    sewers and proceded some distance to a secret door that led to a
    corridor in a closed off former basement.  They spotted and
    avoided a trap in the corridor and fought a few rats before
    arriving at a door, beyond which they found a small room with two
    coffins, a couch, some childrens's toys and a cloak rack with two
    cloaks.

    They carefully opened the coffins and found them empty, but then
    discovered the hard way that a small vampire, apparently a former
    street waif, was hiding behind the cloak rack inside the door.  He
    engaged Steve first and almost managed to hit him, but the party
    managed to defeat the vampire without it landing any blows.  In
    the process, Cassie used one charge from her Ring of Magic
    Missiles and Moogh used two charges from the Rod of Bash Face.
    Darius spent the fight casting spells that didn't seem to do
    anything and destroyed a chardelyn to no apparent effect.

    The group searched the area, finding a side room where a second
    child had apparently been kept chained up as a food source until
    he died.  They also found 2 Toals and a copper piece in the couch
    and 3 sapphires in an inside pocket of the nicer cloak.  They
    destroyed both coffins and the small vampire, who had
    rematerialized inside of the smaller one.  They took the cash, the
    gems, and the toys.
