Nightal 21

Nightal 21, 1369: (just past new moon)
    High = 25, Low = 10
    No precipitation
    Wind gusting to 50 mph from the north.
    Cloudy.

    The next morning, the party was surprised by a visit from the
    Silent Travellers, whom they did not invite in for snacks.  The
    Travellers had arrived to trade the location of one Arcturagana's
    lairs for one of their Daggers of Hurting.  There was a lot of
    arguing, both inter- and intraparty, but eventually the party
    decided to reimburse Denyae 1000gp (actually 500gp & 10 Harbor
    Moons) for her Dagger and trade it to the Travellers.  The Silent
    Travellers explained that Arcturagana had a basement flat in Dock
    Ward across the street from a tavern, took their Dagger, and gave
    them the location.

    AFAL contacted Lin and the Watch and went to the appartment.  They
    waited for both a Watch patrol and Mimon and Rhanaur to arrive,
    then all headed in.  Before entering the apartment, Steve and
    Darius used the Eyedrops and Narthan cast Find Traps.
    Invisibility to Undead was also cast on Narthan.

    On their third attempt they got the door open and went in.  They
    found themselves in a small, seemingly empty appartment.  There
    was a vampire who used to be a little girl in the closet and
    Arcturagana herself was hiding in the indoor privy that poured
    right into the sewers below.  A lengthy fight ensued.  Narthan's
    invisibility worked, but his surprise attack failed.  Many
    Magic Missiles flew.  Maanamere's first attack on
    Arcturagana missed so badly that she indicated that he didn't need
    to worry because she could tell he was just pretending to attack.
    The party managed to wound Arcturagana fairly heavily, so she
    turned gaseous and fled into the sewers.  The other vampire was
    slain (and restaked in her coffin) moments later.

    Jan drank a Gaseous Form Potion and headed into the sewers after
    Arcturagana.  Meanwhile the rest of the party searched the
    apartment and body, finding 2 gold earings and three necklaces,
    probably all the girl's.  They later had the earings appraised at
    25gp and the necklaces appraised at 5gp, 8gp and 15gp.  Misery
    pursued Arcturagana for some distance through the sewers, but she
    was only wounded and could change back to human form, which
    allowed her to move more quickly than gaseous Jan.  He followed
    her down a main corridor that ran under Castle Ward but lost her
    after she turned a corner in a main junction room under an alley
    south of Sevenlamps Cut.  He assumed that she would
    likely have stuck to the catwalk in her human form, so he
    continued to follow the catwalk in what amounted to a
    counterclockwise diminishing spiral SE of the junction room, but
    eventually came to a locked gate, which blocked his way because
    the potion had worn off by then, so he returned to the junction,
    left the sewers, and went home.  The party rejoined Jan and
    afterwards passed all of the information they and Jan had gained
    on to Lin and the Watch.

    That night, Maanamere was woken up by the sound of someone tapping
    on his window and whispering "Sweety, are you there?".

    Maanamere responded by hiding under the covers and shouting "Go
    away!  I can't here you!", which of course brought everyone
    running.  Divers alarums and general chaos ensued.  Somehow,
    Maanamere ended up with garlic sautéd mushrooms all over
    him and his bed, the window got smashed and the bed ended up in
    front of the window.  In addition, Dexter did a Detect
    Undead to try to pinpoint Arcturagana and detected three
    seperate undead in different directions!  With Dexter's guidance,
    Steve attempted to fire a Lightning Bolt at Arcturagana
    without looking and this seemed to discourage her.  Arcturagana
    moved off and the other undead did as well shortly
    afterwards.
