Tarsakh 26

Tarsakh 26, 1370 (half moon, waxing):
    High = 40, Low = 20
    Heavy precipitation (4" snow) starting @ 2:50pm
    Wind gusting to 42 mph from the south.
    Cloudy.

    Party goes to Yawning Portal, no messages.

    Denyae, Henkles, Brogan, Dexter, Staric, and Tristan go into
    Undermountain.

    They fail to answer the Demongate's riddle, so Brogan goes around
    and opens the 1-way secret door into the Shield Room for everyone
    else.

    Near the secret door, the party entered a chamber with three large
    statues.  On the floor was a staff which started screaming
    (Magic Mouth) when someone picked it up.  This caused a
    hobgoblin to charge out of a nearby hidden room, He was smart
    enough to run away as soon as he saw the party size, so he didn't
    die that round.  The party chases him down and interogates him.
    He (Laurog Harr) explains that his boss, Hlethvagi, likes to use
    the statue room for meetings, so he's supposed to discourage
    intruders.  They agree to keep mutually quiet about this encounter
    and go their separate ways.  Dexter gives Laurog a gp and some
    bandaging for his troubles.  AFAL is a friend to the working
    stiff.

    Blessed Watchfulness and Strength spells are tossed
    about.

    Much exploring and filling in gaps in map.

    In a room near the Bone Throne, the party walked in on several
    large humanoids (bugbears & ogres) cooking something over a fire
    and playing dice.  One of the Ogres looks up from the game and
    says to the party "You go now.".  So they do.

    The party walked into a room with four shriekers and turned around
    and left them shrieking.

    Shortly after that, the party opened a door on a beholder-kin.
    They tried to back off but it cornered them.  It offered to let
    them live if the party fed it all of their wands, so Tristan
    blasted it with the Wand of Small Fires.  In the fight that
    followed, a ligtning bolt hit Denyae, destroying the Amulet of
    Nondetection and the Carpet of Flying, and Tristan got himself
    feebleminded.
      6000xp to Denyae, Henkles, Brogan, Dexter, Staric, and Tristan
        for a Beholder-kin

    The combat had set of the shriekers again, so the party attacked
    them next.  Two of the four turned out to be violet fungi, but
    nobody died.  They found 3cp and a copper horse worth 6gp.

    After that the party left the dungeon and arranged with the cleric
    on duty in the Yawning Portal to have Tristan fixed the next day.
