After that, they proceded next door to the Riven Shield Shop,
where Henkles looked at a bola from chult which he felt was to
pricey for now (10gp). They found nothing to interest Henkles at
Riautar's Weaponry, so the proceeded across the city to the Market
and explored the booths available for weapons and serpentines.
The Market was not as full as it is in warmer months, but an
animal dealer selling four large puppies - which he said were a
new wolf-mastiff cross useful as guard and attack dogs - caught
Stalker's eye. He resolved to consider buying them later.
Henkles found a beautiful chestnut handled arquebus with silver
inlay which he couldn't afford (750gp), a short sword with 3 darts
concealed in the handle which he couldn't resist buying, although
he argued the price down a little, and a barbarian axe from
Maztica, which he passed on. The party found Arkathar
Bloodfriend's booth, but he had no serpentines for sale.
After that they tried Greg's Gem Store and Halazar's Fine Gems,
where they indeed saw many fine gems, but no serpentines. It was
getting late, so they headed home after that.
That evening, Staros dropped by to ask about the Alarm the
previous night. He was quite put out that Arcturagana had been
managing to approach the house and said he'd see what he could do
about that. He was very curious about her apparent attraction to
Maanamere and questioned him about it, but Maanamere played dumb
quite effectively.
From the personal memoirs of Stephen of Neverwinter:
Dexter replaced the Alarm spell and Maanamere was tied to his bed
overnight, but there were no disturbances.
