In the morning, Henkles reported having another dream. He was chasing a nine-fingered man down an endless corridor, his companions dying and rising again as zombies. Darius and I cast Identify. Darius said that the metal flask probably contains a healing potion and he was unable to discover anything about the magic ring. Darius claimed that the mail, shield, and glaive are likely only lightly enchanted. I was able to tell that the ring we found is probably a Ring of Water Walking. I remarked that it may be a Water Elemental Command ring, as could my ring, but declined to have Darius use a Conjure Elemental scroll to test this theory. I was able to confirm that the potion we took from Elsibet was Gaseous Form, but had no luck with the potion from under the electrical statue that Darius couldn't identify, which we presume is likely to hold a healing potion. Finally I learned that the magic, silver key from the Vanishing Tower is for activating and deactivating a magical device that uses electricity in some way, but failed to learn the details. Theo announced that he had been hired by New Olamn to teach this semester. He requested to continue to stay at Fair Winds, since any quarters the college could provide would be smaller than his room here. Someone mentioned rent, but no agreement was made. I spent the rest of the day seeing if I could find out more about the inscription we found on the 9th. I was told that Nimraith was probably an adventurer who perished in the dungeon and the inscription was likely a spontaneous work. While I was out, I heard that the reward for assisting in the capture of the smokepowder smugglers has been increased to 30,000gp, a wagonload of beer, 4 half-day passes for "deluxe" treatment at Mother Tathlorn's House of Pleasure and Healing and 2 potions of "Studliness", which increases a user's strength, stamina, and attractiveness for a few hours along with causing priapism in the imbiber. During the day, Mooghs puppies were seen chasing a burning rat. A quick investigation revealed that the rat seemed to have burst into flames while it passed near the kitchen in the hallway, but no cause for its ignition was found. Our rest was undisturbed overnight.

    While Steve was casting Identify, Darius joined Dexter in
    the task of healing the party.  Dexter had begun by obtaining a
    small basket of fresh berries - a feat of shopping which set the
    party back 7 Toals - and casting Goodberry 5 times,
    with a result of 20 berries.  Dexter and Darius cast their full
    allotment of 7 Cure Light Wounds spells with excellent
    effect.  Coupled with the goodberries and Dexter's Healing
    proficiency, they were able to bring everybody but Theo to full
    hit points.  Theo was still down four points the next morning, but
    Dexter elected to save the last 4 goodberries, as Theo had time to
    heal naturally before the start of classes on the 20th.
