Technology Summary
|
AlphaGene's technology platform comprises a group of interlocking gene and
protein discovery and bioinformatic technologies based on proprietary
methodologies.
|
These technologies are complemented by state-of-the-art, high-throughput sequencing, tracking and analysis systems.
AlphaGene's scientists have developed a proprietary
process to generate biological libraries highly enriched with full-length
expressed genes (cDNAs).
Using microarray gene expression technology and large-scale automated gene
sequencing capacity, the Company is rapidly isolating
the sequences of disease-related genes. These genes are delivered through our
proprietary bioinformatics system to determine functionality and then
patented. |
|
AlphaGene has validated its technical capabilities by: |
|
Constructing cDNA libraries from very small amounts of tissue without
requiring a DNA amplification step such as PCR. The methods are covered by a
patent application and are expected to enable the identification of previously
undiscovered growth factors and other proteins. |
|
Isolating more than 200 full-length genes encoding secreted
proteins and completing the sequences of more than 600 other novel genes. |
|
Developing high-quality biochips, biased for full-length clones, and initiating
manufacture of these biochips for the discovery research marketplace. |
|
Identifying differentially regulated genes involved in Alzheimer's Disease,
hypoxia and cAMP-stimulated neural tissue. |
|
In its genomics research facility,
AlphaGene has installed the infrastructure and capabilities to integrate a group
of leading-edge technologies into its platform, including: |
|
Rapid production of high quality, enriched for full-length genes,
patent-protected, FLEX cDNA libraries from tissues of normal and diseased
individuals.
|
|
Biochip methods to determine gene expression profiles that define
normal and diseased tissues.
|
|
Advanced bioinformatics applied to full-length
genes including proprietary tracking systems and algorithms that predict
biological function, as well as proprietary genomics databases containing
full-length genes and functional genomics information related to specific
disease conditions. |
